Food and Water
Please withhold food after midnight the night before surgery. Do not feed the morning of the surgery. Allow your cat to drink water as normal.
If the animal is 3-6 months of age:
Kittens between 3-6 months of age should be given 1/4 the usual amount of food the morning of their surgery. There is no need to withhold food the night before the surgery.
Animals in heat:
Cats can be safely spayed when they are in heat. There is no additional charge.
Nursing Animals:
Lactating cats ideally should not nurse for at least 2 weeks before the day of their surgery. Their kittens should be between 6 and 8 weeks of age and eating and drinking on their own.
Flea Prevention:
Flea products such as Advantage, Frontline, Revolution, Revolt, Bravecto are safe to apply before and after surgery. Over the counter flea medications such as Hartz and similar off brands should be avoided on all cats. They are ineffective and sometimes harmful. Cheap flea collars are ineffective also. Seresto flea collars are the only flea collars that are effective.
Pregnant Cats
Cats can be spayed while pregnant to prevent the birth of unwanted kittens. Only early stage pregnant cats will be accepted for spay surgeries.
