Plattsburgh, NY - Spring is the time of year where there is a boom in the cat population, so local veterinarians are reminding the public to spay and neuter their pets.
For this veterinarian, making a dent in the over-population problem is her biggest goal.
"In other areas and cities, there is a huge overpopulation problem where thousands upon thousands of animals are euthanized," said Lambrinos who added she's hoping to reduce that number, one operation at a time.

Our goal for this year is to sterilize 100 or more homeless cats. This method (TNR) is a solution that not only reduces feral cat populations, but also improves the lives of feral cats. All homeless cats will be humanely trapped, evaluated, vaccinated and then neutered by Red Fern Spay and Neuter Mobile Veterinary Clinic.

TO THE EDITOR: The St. John Feral Cat Fund Inc. is a nonprofit organization that advocates non-lethal feline population control for feral (wild), stray and abandoned cats. We have sterilized over 2,000 cats and adopted out over 800 since July of 2002.

Even as a child, Dr. Stacy Lambrinos had a passion for four-legged critters of all kinds.
That love eventually inspired her to become a veterinarian and later fueled the Morrisonville woman's continued aspirations of helping curb the local cat and dog overpopulation problem.

With money she's saved, Lambrinos has purchased an 18-foot custom-made solar-powered trailer—an operating room on wheels.
